This formula is intentionally iron-free, making it ideal for women who are ironsufficient or managing iron supplementation independently. By excluding iron, it helps reduce the risk of digestive discomfort, such as nausea or constipation, which are commonly associated with iron-containing prenatal formulas. It provides targeted support for those who need a gentler option without compromising nutrient density.

Choosing a suitable form of folate

Folate as levomefolate calcium is a preferred form over other forms of methylated folate. Unlike synthetic folic acid, it is immediately bioavailable and crosses the blood–brain barrier, making an effective option for foetal CNS/brain development during pregnancy. 

Especially important for those with MTHFR variants (estimates suggest 30–60% of people carry at least one MTHFR variant - C677T or A1298C - depending on ethnicity). MTHFR gene variants may impair folate metabolism, particularly with folic acid intake alone. Utilising 5MTHF ypasses conversion issues and may better support methylation and neural development.

Statements

Advise your doctor of any medicine you take during pregnancy, particularly in your first trimester. This medicine contains selenium which is toxic in high doses. A daily dose of 150 micrograms for adults of selenium from dietary supplements should not be exceeded.

Do not take while on warfarin therapy without medical advice. Stop taking this medication if you experience tingling, burning or numbness and see your healthcare practitioner as soon as possible (contains Vitamin B6). Vitamins and minerals can only be of assistance if dietary intake is inadequate.
