- Traditional formulations of bupleurum and cyperus have been used to support nervous tension including neck and upper back spasms as well as headaches.5,6 In Traditional Chinese Medicine these herbs have been used to assist stress symptoms including moodiness, irritability and insomnia.7
- Panax ginseng may improve stress adaptation.8 Panax ginseng has been shown to act via the hypothalamus to modulate cortisol production by the adrenal cortex.9 Panax may also raise plasma adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) in the relaxed state; thereby increasing the ability to withstand stress.10,11
- Panax ginseng increases production of gonadotrophins.12 An in vitro study in animals showed an improvement in male reproductive health due to the production of gonadotrophins from an oral dose of panax ginseng (Figure One).13
