Clinical Benefits: Metagenics Dermasoothe Lotion
- Soothes irritated, itchy, red skin: Metagenics Dermasoothe contains a combination of herbal extracts, nutrients and an essential oil to soothe, moisturise and repair the appearance of irritated, dry, red skin. German chamomile essential oil has been shown to soothe the skin and inhibit cyclo-oxygenase and lipoxygenase in vitro.1 Evening primrose oil has also been shown to exhibit a soothing effect on the skin.3 Calendula may repair the appearance of irritated, dry skin and reduce the redness by stimulating granulation, increasing glycoproteins and collagen as shown in animal studies.1 The sesquiterpenes found in manuka oil may be responsible for manuka's ability to reduce skin irritation and promote skin health.4
- Acne-prone skin: Manuka oil has also been shown to exhibit anti-bacterial properties, which may be suitable for acne-prone skin.2,4
